1. I’m not exactly “big” on birthdays. Not my own, anyway.
And in a few short weeks, I’ll be turning 25. TWENTY-FIVE, PEOPLE.  Bring on the lower car insurance and being able to call myself mid-twenties.
Last year for my birthday, I started a Charity: Water campaign after I learned that millions of people don’t live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn’t have access to clean, safe water.  You, my friends, helped raise over $700 for a well and I am so very grateful for you all. Since then, I’ve approached birthdays a little differently. Turning 25 is going to be great and awesome. I’m so thankful for being alive. Bring it on, quarter-life crisis, ha! So here’s the dealio. I’m asking for a little moolah from everyone I know - and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is “proved” when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth. My goal is to raise $1000 by my birthday, with the idea being 25th Birthday= $25 donations, though any amount will help. Even if I don’t reach it, whatever I do raise goes straight to making a well anyways. Win-win, really. And contributions of $1 or $5 are perfect, too. There is no gift too small. Please consider helping me and mostly, helping others.Countdown until October 28th begins now! ———————

“And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” And he said, “All these I have kept from my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’”- Luke 18:18-22

  2. A year ago for my birthday I started a Charity: Water campaign. Charity: Water is a non-profit that suggested the idea of “giving up your birthday” to raise money in lieu of gifts. Every penny of the money raised goes directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations. I was unbelievably blown away by the support of my family and friends… above and beyond what I imagined for my little 24th birthday: about $700 towards bringing clean water to folks who’ve never had it. Thankyouthankyouthankyou to those who donated last year. My heart was and still is very full.

Since it takes 18 months from the time they send the money to the field to when the well project is complete, I’ll be seeing in just over 6 months the results of that birthday present. Pretty rad.

So I thought, hey. Why not do it again?

My goal is bigger this year: to raise $1000 by my birthday with the idea being 25th Birthday= $25 donations, though any amount will help. Even if I don’t reach it, whatever I do raise goes straight to bringing water to people anyways. Win-win, really!
